Two-tier Facebook - friends and family —
I don’t get why Facebook don’t implement a two-tier friends system. You could call it friends and family or even family and colleagues or whatever. But having a way to restrict posts to a closer circle of friends would reduce the dilemma1 that the average person faces many times in their Facebook lives:
Do I accept a friend request from my mum/dad/boss/colleague/teacher/whatever and risk getting in trouble for something I or my friends post, or do I ignore their friend request and risk the wrath incurred by doing so?…

Life in the spotlight (Pt 1) —
I’m sorry Spotlight.
I ignored you for so long. Occasionally I would step into you just for a moment to find a file that I misplaced, and once I’d used you I’d walk away, back into the darkness.
I truly feel bad for doing so.
But times change. People change. I change.
Now I realise that it’s so much easier to launch Mac applications from you than from anywhere else1. All I have to do is press Cmd-Space, start typing the application name, and more often than not after a couple of letters I can hit return and the application launches.…

But Life Is Easy In Jail —

Despite the title this is not one of those rants about the state of prison life and how it’s a cushy number. This is about my lack of understanding about why people are so keen to “jailbreak” their iOS devices.
I’m iOSed up to the max - I’ve got an iPhone, and iPod Touch and an iPad, and all 3 of these devices are happy to live the easy life in Apple’s “jail”.…

Broadband Constipation —
A nice man from BT Wholesale called me yesterday to let me know what the deal was with us being able to get their Infinity product.
